Training Classes

The Tullahoma Kennel Club of Tennessee, Inc. conducts dog training classes, which are taught by experienced dog trainers, exhibitors, and professional handlers.  Currently classes are held at the Coffee County Fairgrounds in Manchester, Tennessee, where both indoor (heated and air-conditioned) and outdoor training is possible.

There are four class sessions a year, with the first annual session beginning early to mid-January.  The training courses offered each session are as follows:

  • Puppy Socialization and Training Class: Designed to help the puppy owner with such important topics as health and nutrition, housetraining, and basic obedience, while providing the puppy with a safe and friendly environment to interact with other puppies and people.  Each class session is held for one hour a week for 7 weeks.  Cost: $60.00 for non-members, $30.00 for TKC Members.
  • Beginning Obedience Class: Designed for both the student who wishes his or her dog to be a good canine citizen by performing basic obedience exercises and the student who wishes to continue training his or her dog for obedience competition.  Each class session is held for one hour a week for 7 weeks, where the first week is a lesson-only class following registration.  Cost: $75.00 for non-members, $40.00 for TKC Members.
  • Advanced Obedience Class: Designed to help the dog owner continue the dog's training in order to earn an AKC obedience title or to produce a more obedient and enjoyable pet.  Cost: $55.00 for non-members, $30.00 for TKC Members.
  • Conformation Handling Course: Designed to help students train and show their dogs in AKC dog shows.  Each class session is held for one hour a week.  Cost: $5.00 per week.

Students who have graduated from Beginning Obedience and are progressing to the Advanced Obedience Class receive $10 off the price of the Advanced Obedience Class.
